The Chico Art School & Gallery, conveniently located in downtown Chico, offers children over age 7 and adults ongoing instruction in painting and drawing.
Janet Lombardi Blixt opened the Chico Art School in 2009, where students learn the basics of drawing and painting in a fun, supportive environment. They work with various mediums, including charcoal, watercolor, tempera, colored pencils and watercolor pencils. More advanced students can work in acrylics, pastel, oil and collage. Perspective, shading, cartooning, art history, painting methods, and much more are discussed.
Instruction is given in small class settings, allowing individual attention. The school nurtures the creative spirit in all of us, no matter what skill level. Home school, after school, private and evening classes are offered. Weekly classes run year long and the popular summer camps are held annually. We also do super fun birthday parties!

Meet The Artist
Janet Lombardi Blixt
Janet Lombardi Blixt began painting at the age of 7, and over the course of her artistic endeavors has developed an appreciation of the mentorship process that she desires to share with emerging artists.
Janet’s paintings are done in an expressionistic yet representational style, primarily in oils, pastel, watercolor and acrylic. Most of her work is created “en plein air”, meaning on location, outdoors. Capturing the light, before it quickly changes, is an important part of her art.
